A little over a year ago, my hubby and I purchased Lizzy from a breeder in Alabama. We were thrilled to add a new puppy to our family. We don't have any children, so our dogs are our kids. Lizzy was originally going to be called Blizzy as her given name is Cookies 'n Cream Blizzard but we just started calling her Lizard and it stuck. She had a very rare merle coat for a chihuahua and if you look at her forehead, she just had the cutest "2" on her forehead. Its so funny and plain as day.
She was full of life. Her and our other pup Goldie played and played. They would make laps back and forth from the living room to the kitchen and back. Lizard was a rooter. She could root out the littlest morsel of food on the ground. She was our baby girl. She was my little mascot. She is all over this website. I built this site centered around her.
On July 28th, the day started out the same. We got up and the first thing that Mark did before anything was get the pups out to the potty. They came in and played for a while and Mark went to work and I started torching. She started making noises and I just thought she was playing. A couple of hours later, she started making the noises again and this time they were weirder. I went and checked on her and she was having a seizure. I thought she had just played too hard and her sugar was too low. Chihuahuas are known for having problems with low blood sugar. It wasn't the first time she had had a problem with low sugar and thats what I figured it was. Mark rushed home and we gave her some honey. She calmed and laid down but was lethargic. I just figured it was the after effects. About an hour later, she had another seizure and stopped breathing and passed away. It was unexpected and fast and devastating.
We will miss her dearly. Our family is slightly smaller and less full. I missing waking up in the morning and Lizzy being the first thing I saw, quietly staring back at me. We still love her and hope one day we will find her waiting for us near the Rainbow Bridge.
Lizzy was my child and will now be my inspiration. She is still going to be my mascot as I couldn't imagine a more fitting memorial to her little life.
REST IN PEACE MY LIZARD July 28, 2006 If Love Coud Have Saved You, You Would Have Lived Forever...
